Son of an Immigrant was founded in 2017 at Miscelanea NY, a shop in the East Village of Manhattan founded by Guillaume Guevara. An immigrant himself, Guillaume came to the States from Mexico and has since opened a business, married a gringa and had a son.
A play on the term "son of a bitch," the concept of the brand was dreamt up in the wake of anti-immigration sentiments geared towards DREAMers and Mexicans at large. At its core, male or female, Mexican or Norwegian, the message of all our merch is that the term "Son of an Immigrant" can be used to describe us all, ultimately.
Ten percent of the proceeds from all sales are sent directly to the ACLU, an organization founded to preserve our civil liberties.
